As midnight devoured the last remnants of daylight, Kaelin's tires hummed along the deserted highway, the only sound in a sea of darkness. A figure in white appeared on the side of the road, her face a void. Kaelin's curiosity got the better of him, and he pulled over. She slid into the back seat, her presence a cold draft on a winter's night. As the car glided past a crumbling graveyard, Kaelin's glance met the rearview mirror – she was gone. The seatbelt remained fastened, a haunting whisper caressed his ear, "You're mine now, Kaelin."
