"Is Free Will an Illusion: A Realistic Examination of Determinism vs. Moral Responsibility"
Script
Determinism vs moral responsibility, a debate that has puzzled philosophers for centuries, do we truly have control over our actions or are they predetermined by factors outside of our control, the concept of determinism suggests that every event including human decisions and actions is the inevitable result of prior causes and is therefore predetermined, painterly determinism which argues that all human decisions and actions are controlled by factors such as genetics environment and past experiences, this raises the question are we morally responsible for our actions if they are predetermined, Kant argued that even if our actions are predetermined our sense of moral responsibility remains intact, for he believed that morality is not about the consequences of our actions but about our motivations and intentions, Nietzsche on the other hand believed that moral responsibility is an illusion created to impose order and control on human behavior, but what if our brain activity can predict our decisions before we are consciously aware of them, recent studies in neuroscience suggest that our brain activity can indeed predict our decisions before we make them, this challenges the idea of free will and moral responsibility, perhaps our sense of moral responsibility is just an illusion created by our brain to make sense of the world, but does this mean we should abandon moral responsibility altogether, or can we find a middle ground that acknowledges the complexities of human decision-making, the answer remains uncertain but one thing is clear our understanding of free will and moral responsibility is far more complex than we ever imagined.
